How to Get More Views to Your Content

Creating great content is just the tip of the iceberg. You might have 100 articles and videos out there with just a few views. Getting more views to your content can be difficult if you do not have a large following. Here are some simple ways you can get more views to your consent using a few stress-free techniques.

It all starts with a blog post ...

1)      Post your content link into your facebook status and share it with your friends
2)      Post your content link to your Twitter 3x a week
3)      Social bookmark your content by using a few popular social bookmarking sites.
4)      Upload your content into your BetterNetworker account.
5)      Send your content to your email subscribers. You can also write an excerpt of the blog post in your email and then provide a link to your post. That way you can get more views to your bog. (giving you better rankings in the search engines)
6)      Make your content into an article and post it to Ezine. After it has been approved by Ezine you can submit it to other article sources like ArticleBase or GoArticles.
7)      Turn your blog post into a video and repeat steps 1-4 with your video link.
8)      Upload your video to YouTube and TubeMogul

How Do I Start an Online Business?

You might be asking yourself right now how I start an online business. Where do I begin? You are probably feeling extremely overwhelmed especially if you have been searching for a home business online.

Here are some tips to help you start an online business.

Find Out What You Are Passionate About

If you are creative, make sure there is room in your business to use those skills to your advantage. If you like communicating with people, choose something with lots of interactions. If you love helping people, choose something that is profitable and will help others as well.

If you do not know what you are passionate about or what you would love to do, you probably just want to make some big money quickly. That's perfectly okay and there are many options on how you can do this.

Know Your Budget

By researching "how do I start an online business" you should already know that it costs money. Many online businesses have low investments and low overheads or high investments and low overheads. Be prepared to spend your budget wisely but don't be afraid of spending money to grow yourself or your business.

Figure Out Your Plan of Action

Will you be doing this business full time or part time? What are your income goals? What will your daily schedule look like?  When writing down your marketing and business plan, make sure to not treat your business like a hobby. Hobbies don't make you money! You will need to put in some effort.

Be Open to Change and Learning

Educate yourself everyday about your products, company, mindset, motivation and marketing skills. It's extremely important to stay in the know and learn how to grow yourself and your business. You will need to try new methods and evaluate their effectiveness. Eventually you will find a method that is less time consuming, less expensive and enjoy doing and it will not even feel like work.

Starting an online business is easier than you think. Sometimes you need to open your eyes to what is already successful and hop on board if it suits your taste. Choose something with tons of support and great mentors and leaders. Remember that it will be hard but will pay off in the end!

The New Facebook Profile Exposed

Looks like facebook is changing again! No surprise there, the “improvements” will never stop.

So let’s talk about the new facebook profile. It’s been up for about a week now and I’ve considered switching because I like using the latest trends. Before I make a decision I want to find out the benefits of the new facebook profile.

From a marketing perspective I love how currently I am able to have my websites on my profile page. I am also able to add a personal message to everyone and add in my website under my profile picture. Both the website and “empty profile box” seem to disappear in the new facebook profile leaving you no room to market your business on your main page.

Although you can easily switch your main page to your information tab with the new and old facebook settings, I like having the wall as the first thing someone sees when they look at my profile or search for my name. It’s great to show that you are active with your wall, status and friends.

The new facebook profile benefits:

Ok I will give it some credit; the first thing someone sees at the top is a little bio about you. You could include a link about your business here but it’s not that obvious that it’s a link because the title does not look like a website and you might be missing out on clicks you could have had.

If you are searching for new friends for your business, it is easy to see if they are qualified by looking right at their bio on top of their profile page. The bio tells you about work, school, location and birthday.

The photos up top are also pretty neat although I’m not sure you can customize which ones can be seen and in which order. They might show up based on the pictures you last updated and it wouldn’t be very good to have your grandma or a silly picture representing you and your business.

On the left under your profile picture, you have the chance to choose which pictures of friends or group members you would like to have up there. If you have a fan page, it would be great to select all of your fans and have them displayed in that section.

Whether we choose to update our profiles now, never, or later they will probably be gradually updated with or without our say in the next year. Either way, as marketers we will find a way to let our businesses be seen and known!

What do you think about the new facebook profile? Do you think it will  benefit you or your business?

Another Branding Yourself Tip, Add a Favicon!

Here is another branding yourself tip. It’s all about customization and trying a little extra harder than you did yesterday. Creating a favicon will definitely catch someone’s eye and make you stand out as well as help you generate a bigger following.

A favicon (favourite icon) is the small picture in beginning of the address bar in the browser.

You can change these icons to whatever you want. Having your logo or company initials would be a great idea for your favicon.

Good news, this is easy peasy.. you do not need to be an html expert to do this.

The standard "B" symbol for blogger is great for letting people know that your site is a blog site. But the standard “B” symbol is just that... STANDARD! Do you want to have standard content? I hope not!

Here is how you can create a favicon for blogger.com

Find your own image and create your free favicon online here:

http://seotools.bloggertricks.com/free/online-favicon-generator/

Next: You need to upload your picture to a hosting site. If you do not have one, you can use the free hosting site below:

http://image.computersteroids.com/

Once your image is loaded, select the Direct Link

(ie  http://image.computersteroids.com/4//larkshark.ico)

Next: Go to your blogger dashboard and choose DESIGN, then HTML

Insert your image link into the below coding.

<link href='ICON FILE URL' rel='shortcut icon'/>
<link href='ICON FILE URL' rel='icon'/>

Add this entire code right under this code:

<title><data:blog.pagetitle/></title>

Save your changes.

Your new image will display shortly. Sometimes it takes a while depending on which browser you are using.

Favicons for WordPress:

Your theme might already have a place to upload a favicon. The Bombax Theme (my theme) has this enabled.

This is directly from the WordPress help page

Installing a Favicon in WordPress

If there is already an old favicon.ico file in your current theme’s main folder, delete it using FTP Clients.
  1. With an FTP Client, upload the new favicon.ico file into your current theme’s main folder.
  2. Upload another copy of your favicon.ico file to the main directory of your site (ie. http://example.com/favicon.ico). This will display the favicon in your subscribers’ feedreaders.
In order for your favicon to show up in some older browsers, you will need to edit your page header.
  1. Go to your WordPress Administration Panel.
  2. Click on Design (called Presentation in WordPress 2.3.x and below, and Appearance in WordPress 2.7+).
  3. Click on Theme Editor.
  4. Select the file called Header or header.php to edit the file.
  5. Search for the line of code that begins with <link rel="shortcut icon" and ends with /favicon.ico" />. Overwrite it, if it exists, or add the following code below the <head> HTML tag.
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/favicon.ico" />
  1. Save the changes.
To see your new favicon, clear your WP-Cache and your browser’s cache. You may need to restart your browser in order to see the new favicon.

Looking forward to seeing your new favicons!!
